High Brass Sounds in aid of Cheltenham trip!

Brass Sounds Inverclyde, Scottish 4th Section Champions, climbed Ben Nevis on July 9th to raise funds to get to the National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham this September. Since "The Ben" has just been reclassified at 1345m high, this was the highest ever concert played in Britain!

Nine hardy souls began the climb, and seven made it to the top. The band played at the bottom, part-way up, half-way up and at the top. Music included hymns, Scottish tunes.  BSI played a fanfare specially commissioned from Dave Collins, "Mountain of Heaven" (a translation of 'Ben Nevis'), which is beautiful and can now be purchased for indoors use also!  The main sponsors for the climb were p2sl Ltd of Clydebank and Kickstarter sponsors.  All together a sum not far off £2,000 was raised, allowing the band ever closer to their £6,000 Cheltenham costs target.
