National Championships 2023

So there we are: the Championship Section Final 2023 (and therefore the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain 2023) are over.

Black Dyke Band were crowned National Champions yesterday at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall. Ultimately though, brass banding won. We had 20 fantastic performances of Edward Gregson - Composer’s wonderful “Of Men and Mountains”, which the three adjudicators Robert Childs, Stephen Cobb & Roger Webster had the unenviable task of separating.

Thousands of audience members were in attendance to witness a brilliant standard of playing & fierce competition of the highest level. There was an electric buzz around the Hall all day, and we thank everyone who bought a ticket & attended the event.

We would also like to express thanks to:
▪️ Competing bands & MDs
▪️ Stage Presenter Simone Rebello
▪️ Classical Reflection for a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem before we got the contest underway
▪️ Mike Lovatt and the Whitburn Band (conducted by Bryan Allen) for an amazing Gala Concert
▪️ British Army Band Tidworth Fanfare Team for heralding the National Champion Band
▪️ The Kapitol Event Crew and contest officials for their hard work before & during the event
▪️ Social Media Officer Kirsty for her brilliantly creative content throughout the day
▪️ World of Brass for recording the event, and for their exhibition stand at Door 6
▪️ The hard-working RAH management, crew & stewards

Once we recover, our attention will turn to the Regional Championships 2024 - when the fun begins again!!
