Bands set for the Welsh Regional Championships

40 bands are set to battle it out at the Welsh Regional Championships this weekend, hoping to gain one of the all-important National Finals qualification spots in their section. Adjudicators Nicholas Garman, David Hirst, Alan Morrison, Jonathan Pippen & Glyn Williams will be kept busy throughout the weekend's action, and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama will be giving a short concert before the Championship Section Results Ceremony on Sunday.

This year the Welsh Regional Championships will be held for the first time at the impressive Great Hall at Swansea University's Bay Campus. The Great Hall is a multi-purpose cultural arts venue for the University and wider community, comprising a 700 seat auditorium, state-of-the-art lecture theatres, meeting rooms and a delightful café bar which offers spectacular views right across Swansea Bay. This £32m facility was designed by world-renowned architect Dr Demetri Porphyrios as a multi-purpose space which aims to reach out beyond the campus to the wider community.

There are several food & drink outlets onsite, including the Great Hall Cafe, Tafarn Tawe (Students Union), Tesco Express and Costa Coffee. Exhibition stands will also be in the Main Foyer throughout the weekend.

Despite the presence of Storm Jorge, this promises to be a fantastic weekend of Welsh brass banding! Schedule & competing bands are below.
