"First" Pictures from Dave Imms Photography
Dramatic photographs taken by the acclaimed photographer Dave Imms at the Championship Section Final of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain 2017 have been released on his website.
Dave Imms states: "Last October I was tasked with responding to a brief from Grey London as part of an exhibition showcasing the work of 4 photographers and their interpretation of First.
Under this banner I set out to meet and document the bands in the run up to the National Brass Band Championships - First being attributed not just to rank, but to the premium and greatest, with the intention of illustrating the brutal and candid lifestyle of the working band against the glitz, glamour and majesty of the Royal Albert Hall - the finest venue in the land."
Dave himself attended the Championship Section Final on Saturday 14th October, and took photographs of players immedaitely after they came off the pressurised contest stage. He also visited bands in the lead up to the contest, taking pictures of the bands whilst they prepared the set test piece Gallery (Howard Snell).
