Huddersfield & Ripponden

History

Huddersfield and Ripponden Brass, a community and family orientated brass band, are based in Golcar, Huddersfield and are part of the Huddersfield Youth Brass Ensemble Association which comprises of a youth and senior band.

The youth band was founded in 1963 but, in 1992, some current and a few ex-players formed Huddersfield Brass Ensemble.  They were immediately successful and qualified for the 3rd Section National Finals in 1997.  Their best result was 3rd in the Yorkshire Area 2nd section in 2000 but in recent years the band has drifted between the 3rd and 4th Sections.

Since those early days, the band has changed its name becoming Huddersfield Brass then Huddersfield & Ripponden Brass after a merger with the Ripponden Brass Band.

In 2015 the band appointed Mr. Adam bell as its Musical Director and, under his direction, the band has improved and achieved notable success.  We are currently the Yorkshire 4th section champions 2017 and perform in a varied range of concerts, parades and contests in the Yorkshire area.

Next year the band will compete in the 3rd section.
