Allerton

History

Allerton Brass was formed in November 2013 by Mike and Tony Jackson.  Both had been involved in Brass Bands for a long time and decided the time was right to start up a new Band in their home town (Liverpool) which hitherto had been something of a Banding desert.

The Band’s first public performance was a very successful charity concert in December 2013 which raised significant and much needed funds for two charities very close to the Band’s heart – the MS Society and the MS Trust.

There followed a period of building leading to the establishment of a full and settled ensemble by early 2015.

In 2014 & 2015 the Band competed on Whit Friday with some success – a handful of lower section prizes.  But Contesting began seriously in October last year with victory in the 4th Section at the NWABBA Contest in Rochdale under the baton of their then MD Pete Smith.

The Band had a change of MD into the New Year.  Now led by Adam Taylor, this year has seen the Band gain 5th place at Brass At The Guild in Preston, closely followed by 2nd place at the NW Regional Championships in Blackpool to gain qualification for the National Finals at Cheltenham and promotion to 3rd Section.  They also had a successful Whit Friday in Saddleworth in May competing at 6 contests and winning the 4th Section prize at all of them.

This is Allerton's first ever appearance at the Nationals!
