Market Rasen

History

The Market Rasen Band now Sponsored by United Heath Ltd and The Market Rasen Town Council reformed in 1966. In 1973 won the WD & HO 4th Section Finals in London under the Musical Direction of Keith Edwards. In 1982 The band became the Kesterby Brass Band for the TV series Nanny, filmed on location at Tealby, Lincolnshire. In 1996 the Band was able to move into their own Bandroom thanks to the Lottery and Arts Council Funding were also bought was a full set of brass Instruments.

In 2017 the Band got funding from The Arts Council England,'Grants For The Arts' and able to host a Concert & Workshops by The Black-Dyke Band In Lincoln Cathedral, where two works commissioned by William Himes and Paul Lovett-Cooper were performed and the Band to produce a CD.

Amongst the more recent Contest successes has won the 4th Section Bolsover Entertainments Contest in 2012 under the Musical Direction of Alan Needham has qualified for the National Finals in 2005,2010, 2013 and the biggest success of all under the Musical Direction of David Dernley The Midlands 3rd Section Champions 2018 and promoted to the 2nd Section for 2019.
