Kingsway Printers (Cleethorpes)

History

The Kingsway Printers Cleethorpes Band is one of the oldest in Lincolnshire with a continuous history stretching back to its foundation as the Cleethorpes Borough Band in 1880.  The band has always been supported by the local community and in addition for the past three decades by Band President Jim Pullan MBE and our sponsors Kingsway Printers.  Our wonderful band room was created by our own members and is situated just a few minutes stroll from the Cleethorpes promenade.

The Band is led by Musical Director Brian Harper and plays a variety of concerts at local venues, supporting local charities and providing live musical entertainment. The Band contests in the North of England Championships, 3rd Section and achieved 2nd place in the 2017 Durham contest, qualifying to play at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain for the fourth time in eight years.

We encourage people of all ages and abilities to play in our Training Band and recently we have provided instruments and tuition to a local primary school to encourage young beginners.  The band has always enjoyed strong family links; mothers and fathers have introduced their own children to music and some children have brought along their parents and even one grandparent to learn to play.
