Barton Community

History

The Barton Community Band are a Traditional British Brass Band Organisation based in Barton-Upon Humber. They are part  of the Barton Town Bands group which is 145 years old this year, and also have a thriving youth brass band, tutored by Community Band's players. 

The Barton Community Band has been in existence for ten years competing only for the last three years. The Band is led by MD Garry Oglesby and has been since its inception. Garry himself plays solo horn with the EYMS brass band and is a peripatetic music teacher. 

The band were delighted to win first place at this year's North of England 3rd section area contest, also scooping awards for best percussion (kit played by Clive Platts and tuned percussion by Suzanne Evison), and the best MD awarded to Garry Oglesby. 

Barton Community's first ever appearance at a National Finals. Band was created after collapse of Barton Town. Barton Town Nationals record: 8 previous appearances, highest placing of 3rd (S1 2009, S3 2007 & 1954).
