Bathgate

History

The Bathgate Band can trace its routes back to the early part of the 19th century. The band is the oldest musical organisation in West Lothian and thought to be one of the oldest brass bands in Scotland.

The Bathgate Band is primarily a community-based brass band and we take great pride in attending many civic and community events in Bathgate and throughout West Lothian.

The Bathgate Band’s notable contest successes include winning the 2nd section National Championship of Great Britain in 1989 and 1997, along with the 1st section at the Pontins contest in 1998 and the National Mineworkers contest in 2001.

NATIONALS CONTESTING HISTORY

First Nationals appearance since 2013 (Section 2). Most recent appearance at the S1 Final was 2003. Total of 7 Nationals appearances, but impressively two wins: S2 1989 and S2 1997 - but the win in 1997 win was due to Rhos Silver disqualification.
