Reg Vardy

History

Under our Craghead, Ever Ready & Reg Vardy names, 2017 will see the band’s 49th appearance at The National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain. Additionally, we have become French Open Champions, Beamish March & Hymn Tune Contest Champions and narrowly missed qualification to The British Open where we were placed 3rd in the Grand Shield. Several high profile concerts have been performed, including the French Open Gala Concert, a performance of The Durham Hymns and also the premiere performance of the Brass Band arrangement of Belshazzar’s Feast at the Durham Brass Festival.

Outside of this, the band take great pride in their outreach work to the local community giving musical support to schools, training bands and also bands in the lower sections. Not only do they provide one to one tuition, but also full day master classes and sectional tutorials. This is an area which the band will continue to develop over the coming years in the hope we can encourage and sustain a thriving future for the banding community in the North East of England.
